Standard Safety
Active safety features — standard on most new Toyota models at no extra cost.
Active Safety
Features Included
Uses a forward-facing camera and radar to detect vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists ahead. If a potential collision is detected, it alerts the driver and can apply the brakes automatically to help mitigate or avoid a collision.
Automatically adjusts your speed to maintain a preset following distance from the vehicle ahead. Works at highway speeds and in stop-and-go traffic, bringing the vehicle to a complete stop if necessary.
Monitors lane markings using a windshield-mounted camera. If the system detects the vehicle drifting from its lane without a turn signal, it alerts the driver and can gently steer the vehicle back toward the center of the lane.
Helps keep the vehicle centered in its lane on highways and freeways. Works in conjunction with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control to provide steering support, especially useful on long highway drives.
Detects oncoming vehicles and preceding taillights, then automatically switches between high and low beams. Helps maximize visibility at night without blinding other drivers.
Recognizes speed limit signs, stop signs, and Do Not Enter signs using the forward-facing camera. Displays detected signs on the multi-information display to help keep the driver informed.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard equipment at no extra cost on most new Toyota vehicles. Unlike many competitors that charge extra for advanced driver-assistance features like adaptive cruise control and pre-collision braking, Toyota includes TSS as part of the base package on nearly every model in the lineup.
The Pre-Collision System (PCS) uses a forward-facing camera and millimeter-wave radar to continuously scan the road ahead for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. If a potential collision is detected, TSS alerts the driver with audio and visual warnings. If the driver does not respond in time, the system can automatically apply the brakes to help mitigate or avoid the impact entirely.
Yes. Because Toyota Safety Sense relies on a camera mounted behind the windshield, the system requires professional recalibration after any windshield replacement. This ensures the Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, and other camera-based TSS features continue to function accurately. Our service center in Valencia, CA is equipped to perform TSS windshield camera calibration for all Toyota models.
TSS 2.5 introduced improvements like left-turn oncoming vehicle detection and enhanced pedestrian and cyclist detection for the Pre-Collision System, plus full-speed adaptive cruise control. TSS 3.0 builds on that with a wider detection range, improved low-light performance, pre-collision risk avoidance assist at intersections, and an emergency driving stop system. Both versions include Lane Departure Alert, Lane Tracing Assist, and Automatic High Beams as standard.
